Kenny moved to Colorado from Portland, Maine several years ago but he has lived in a variety of places throughout the country.  He has an undergraduate degree in photography from The Evergreen State College and a Masters degree in elementary education from Antioch University New England.  Before attending graduate school Kenny worked as a photography teacher, Colorado River guide, rock climbing instructor and community volunteer.  Post graduate school he taught gifted and talented students at Basalt Elementary school in Basalt, Colorado for three years.  Though he tremendously enjoyed teaching in a traditional public school setting Kenny couldn’t be more jazzed to be a part of the dynamic and creative REMS community where he has the opportunity to work alongside educators, families and students that share a similar vision of education. He grew up just west of St. Louis between the confluence of the Missouri and the Mississippi Rivers playing outside in the dirt and building things.  Some of Kenny’s favorite adventures have been traveling from the southern tip of South America to St. Louis, Missouri, by land, thirty-two days paddling the Bonnet Plume River in Canada’s Yukon Territory with the National Outdoor Leadership School, 7-days bikepacking 280 miles of CO back roads and five months cultural immersion in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.  He loves being outside, the arts, listening to music, NPR, ingenuity, the underdog, geography, home and time spent with his wife, Beth, and k-9 pal, Timber.
